About Me

I'm Aurovenkatesh, an award-winning freelance filmmaker, and cinematographer based in Auroville, Pondicherry, South India. My journey began under the name Venkatesa Perumal, and I hold a degree in Computer Science Engineering from Mailam Engineering College, Anna University, Chennai. Driven by a passion for storytelling, I later pursued Digital Filmmaking at the SAE Institute of Film Studies in Chennai, which set me on the path to a fulfilling career behind the camera.

In 2011, I founded Athvika Media, a video production company, which allowed me to dive into various projects. Over time, I transitioned into freelancing to focus more intently on projects that inspire me. Since then, I’ve created over 120 documentary-style films for Auroville's international community projects, working as a freelance cinematographer and editor.

More recently, I've also ventured into feature films, contributing to Kannada and Tamil films like *Akshadrusha*, *Attrai Thingal Annilavil*, and *Panam Ennum Kakidham*.

My work has earned recognition, including two Best Cinematography awards for my documentary *Once Upon a Forest*—one at the Kodaikanal International Film Festival and another at the Robinson Film Awards (International Film Festival) in Italy.
